LIS 6511 Collection Development & Maintenance
Course currently in progress: My group will be making a collection development policy based on the selected library system we agree upon. This will allow us to build the skills to review, develop, and rationalize a Library development policy. One early piece we were asked to was to identify, examine, and review a library's collection development police
Goal IV.B.
Students will identify opportunities for research and develop plans for research in applied settings in library and information science.
LIS 6271 Research Methods
As makerspaces grow in popularity in the library environment, we asked ourselves, do they lead to skills that can be implemented in daily life? To find out, my group developed a year-long study to determine if users actually develop skills for daily life, what those skills are, and whether they transfer to other endeavors. We reviewed other research on markerspaces, identified key areas to focus on, and selected the best methods for collecting, surveying, and synthesizing the data.
