LIS 5937 World Libraries
In this course, we explored libraries from around the world. From the ancient past to our modern day. How the work, how they meet the needs of their patron’s, and how it may differ from the way we do things in our own library system. I research the Hong Kong library system, its history, and its current operations. The challenges it faces, the needs of its patrons, and how the Hong Kong Library Association works alongside it.
Goal II.B.
Students evaluate and select print and digital information resources and systems to meet needs of users.
LIS 6603 Basic Info Sources/Services
In this course, I developed a LibGuide around gaming in libraries. This guide was intended for anyone looking to implement gaming events into their library, such as International Games Day/Week. It provided ideas for hosting the events, the materials needed, and recommendations on whom to reach out to for sponsorship and prizes. This guide came from my own personal experience and allowed me to build something to pass on to other gaming enthusiast librarians, looking for a place to start when building a games collection and hosting gaming events.
Goal II.C.
Students understand and use appropriate information technology for information services.
LIS 5268 Tech for Infor Prof
Course in progress: In this course, we are learning about all the different technologies and what they are. how they work, and how we can use them in library services. Our major project for this course is to research a topic in the field of technology and librarianship. My proposal is to report on the Information Commons at USF Sarasota-Manatee, how all digital commons work, and how they use technology to meet their patron’s needs.
